In time for X-Factor Final NJ produces 13,000 'Vote for Shayne' Prints
When Shayne Ward was tipped to win the 2006 X-Factor, fashion giant New Look (his ex-employers) and NJ Screen Prints were ahead of the game.Shayne had been hotly tipped to win the X-Factor from the start and his ex-employers were so confident in him, that they ordered a run of 6,500 t-shirtsfor their staff to wear.
The nationally anticipated final show was due to be aired live on Saturday 19th December. On Wednesday 16th New Look confirmed the order for us to print the t-shirts and deliver them to 640 New Look stores across the country on Thursday evening - ready for Friday morning when the stores opened.
The X-Factor final proved to be an all out battle between Manchester lad Shayne, duo Journey South and London bin man Andy Abraham. There was a clear winner, but little did Shayne know, as he belted out his winning song ‘That’s My Goal’, that hundreds of our ‘Vote For Shayne’ t-shirts had, no doubt, contributed to his landslide win.

World Cup T-Shirts score a goal with High Street retailers
When England went out of the World Cup 3-1 on penalties after their quarter-final with Portugal ended 0-0, their devoted fans mourned.
The NJ Screen Prints staff weren’t sat at the pub watching the match over a beer that night. We were all on stand-by at the factory - waiting to print the final score on thousands of t-shirts if England won. We had already printed 4,000 in the qualifying rounds.
As our managing director Andy Wilebore and his print machine teams watched the quarter final match unfold, it became clear that there was going to be no print run that night, as England gave a dismal performance and left the competition empty handed.
Throughout the entire 2006 World Cup, we printed each of the England team’s winning scores onto t-shirts for supporters who wanted to display their allegiance to David Beckham and his England team mates.
Within an incredible 3 hours of the end of each match, we had printed the t-shirts, packed and despatched them on overnight courier, so they would be available in hundreds of high street stores the next morning.
